Recently, I wrote about feeling tapped out and the need to slow down as we struggle with the demands of our ultra-high-speed lives.
We have become experts at persisting and pushing through despite the warning signs we consistently chose to ignore – exhaustion, sluggishness, brain fog, and busyness are just a few.
The bottom line is there never seems to be enough time each day (or week) to go through it all (whatever “it” is to you).
But if “change” is what we crave (and we most definitely need), it can start with a simple spark.
Some think of a spark as something small and insignificant, but a spark can be something that starts a chain reaction.
A spark can ignite change, and the result can be powerful.
I believe the currency that makes us feel alive and excited about who we are and what we do is Spark-ability!
Another way to view it is the ability to bring energy to life and work in such a way that it lights you up and radiates to inspire others to do the same.
Work can feel like a drag without spark-ability, and life can also become stagnant.
So how do you become a leader with spark-ability?
- Elevate Vitality. First, take a step back and evaluate your current situation. If you want to energize those around you, start by setting the tone yourself. When it comes to your mindset, mood, and motivation, plug the leaks by evaluating what’s working well and what needs to be improved.
- Embrace Values. Take some time to reflect on your personal and professional values and what motivates you as a leader. What makes you want to get up in the morning and make a difference? Once you have a good understanding of what drives you, it will be much easier to share these gems with others.
- Enrich Relationships: When you take the time to engage with others on a deeper level, you’ll find that they are more inspired and motivated to be great themselves. So putting in the effort pays off in the end!
In today’s world, it’s not enough to be a good leader. You need to have that extra “spark” that makes you stand out from the rest. The ability to stay energized, connect with others and create a positive vibe are all essential elements of success – and it is more art than science.
Leaders with spark-ability are able to light up themselves and bring out the best in helping others reach their potential, too!
Keep shining!
